Team Orange Summary of Surveys

Since we can't copy and paste our summary of surveys from our paper to the blog, we've created a hyperlink for you to follow. It will take you to Barbara's classroom based blogsite and should open directly to the reading survey summary.

  1. STRATEGIES FOR MOTIVATING STUDENTS QUESTION
When developing a lesson plan for literacy I take several things into consideration:my objective, the purpose of the lesson and the ability of the students completing it.When I am developing a lesson I am extremly cognisent of the ability of my students because I try to give everyone the same assignment with built in scaffolding as needed.
    SUMMARY OF SURVEY
I surveyed 13 3rd grade students about there reading habits, their and their parent's attitudes toward reading, the number of books they own, and when and how they read.
The survey found that all but one of these students owned books but had not made reading a habit. The students were more likely to read when restricted from doing other activities such as use the computer or play video games and that higher ability to read did not neccesarily equal a good attitude toward reading.
